VEN’s First Hallowe’en Cook ’n Talk

 In News

On Saturday, October 27th, we held our first ever Hallowe’en Cook ‘n Talk, which was open to all ages. Participants were encouraged to wear costumes, but costumes were not mandatory.

The main room at Foreningernes Hus was temporarily transformed by spooky decorations, and we were treated to some delicious authentic Mexican food made by Ivan Vaso, which include blue corn tortillas, chicken, pork, and black beans, tostado shells, guacamole, salsas and all of the trimmings. Ivan demonstrated the traditional way of assembling both the tacos and the tostada. There was an option for sangria with or without alcohol.

There was a Hallowe’en Quiz with the prize of a one-year family membership, which was won by Katherine Leah.

Romy Montaňo Galarza then taught us how to dance to Michael Jackson’s Thriller.

The prizes for best costume were given to Asun, Stefano and little Selman, who were costumed as a bee keeper, a flower and a bee, such a beautiful way to tell a story and to show they are a whole. The second best costume prize was won by Anna Csukas who was dressed like a doll.

The evening wrapped up with red velvet vampire cupcakes baked by Nina and Luiza and pumpkin carving activities.

Many thanks to everyone who made this event possible.
